18th May My bulk pakage came today. The CDs look really good, shame Tammo didn't get to see them. I am going to pass them around to friends and a few DJs. Tammo's family got 2 boxes (100), I phoned Gerda (Tammo's mother) yesterday but she wasn't at home. I guess the CDs have turned up there too. Hope it's not too upsetting for his mum and Meike. Henning has gone back to Italy to continue his studies. Kevin is moving house at this moment, I just sent him the addresses and he will be sending out your copies as soon as time allows. 10th May, late evening Just got some news from Kevin. The bulk CD pakage should arrive before the weekend at his place. When time allows the CDs will be sent out all over the world. I hope that you will have your CDs by the end of next week, it depends on Kevin's time. He runs a business and is doing this on the side, so as I said, please be patient. 10th May, just got back from work As I wrote the CD is finished. Although Tammo passed away before it actually got sent to him, that doesn't change in any way the effect this had on his last few weeks with us. We couldn't have got it done faster, that wasn't technically possible. We stopped the FedEx delivery after Tammo passed away, Kevin is sending the family 60 CDs for family and friends. For the people that have donated: I am waiting to see if Kevin has time to pack them and send them out next week to you. There are about 130 he would have to send, so it's quite a job. I will let you know here when they have been sent, please be patent, thank you. 7th May, morning in europe Kevin got the first few CDs today (which means Saturday in NY) that he will send to Tammo. That means Tammo should have them by Tuesday, at the latest Wednesday! Kevin said they look really good, which I am pleased about. I noticed a little mistake (letter spacing) on the actual CD label after the graphics had been approved and sent to print, which pissed me off a bit (my fault), but it's too late now. Rush job, suppose mistakes are inevitable. Glad all has gone well though. It's nice to see how much can be done and without any bullshit when all of us pull together 100%. Gives you back the faith in people you may have lost along the way. 5th May, evening in europe Kevin just got off the phone with the press house; the CDs are finished! The press house is overnight - FedExing Kevin a few which he will overnight to Tammo. (The press house doesn't send directly abroad). If all goes to plan, Tammo should have the CD on Monday, latest Tuesday - depends on FedEx. The rest of the CDs (~1000) will be sent to Kevin in an extra pakage, then Kevin will start sending them out to you people that have helped make this possible. 2nd May, evening in europe Kevin just mailed me with "CD production day 0" which means the audio and graphic docs have been approved and we are off. Excellent work people! 1st May : rush fee explanaition Kevin and I have chosen the 3-day rush possibilty, we're looking at a total of 7-8 days: 1-2 for art setting 3 for production 1 overnight to me [Kevin] (The presswork can't ship out of the country) 1 overnight to Tammo 1 for buffer The extra costs for this are $653, plus $140 shipping charges from the presswork to Kevin. So we are looking at the CDs being delivered to Kevin by about Saturday the 6th of May if all goes well. Tammo may have it in his hands by next Monday if all goes well! We decided that under these circumstances, money is not important - the normal time would have been at least 14 days, plus postage time to Kevin and then to Tammo. We have enough on the account to cover this and quite a lot in the pipeline, so we are finacially secure. A few days later (after the CDs have reached Kevin) they will be shipped to all the kind people in the world that have made this possible. 30th April I have just mailed a local radio station in Bremen where Tammo was born firstly asking them to mention this initiative and secondly asking them to give Tammo some airplay when the CD is ready. Lets see what they say. I can just imagine the smile on Tammo's face when Meike comes in with a radio and he hears his own song playing. 29th April The red-book CD has been sent to the press house. They also have the print files for the covers. On monday Kevin will discuss rush fees with them to speed up the production. Imagine; in just 6 days and we have set up the site, collected the money and sent the CD to the press work and managed our day time jobs too! (I mean all of us, not Kevin and me!) 27th April, 3 beers later Hi, just uploaded pdf versions of the CD cover so you can have a look at them (pdfs): cover: front / back (pages 1 & 4) inside cover (pages 2 & 3) tray back tray inside CD 27th April Just finished the artwork, an example is below.I have sent it to the presshouse http://www.nationwidecd.com/ for them to check the technical side and to Kevin hoping he has some time to look for typos. If all goes well the CD will be done very soon, Kevin is looking after that in the US, not sure how long it will take. Blue Richardson from nationwidecd seems like a nice guy, he knows the situation and maybe able to speed things up. 26th April - even later Six songs have been transfered to Kevin in the US. Six are to follow. MP3 preview.Song: Ore Freighter - the first on the CD, 5MB. 26th April - later Cover preview: ![]() 26th April Tracks are being uploaded to the footsteps server now in CD quality.Kevin will download them and burn a red-book CD for pressing. Booklet/label will be completed soon, am waiting for graphic requirements from the printing company. I will also upload a few MP3 extracts later this week (probably the weekend). 25th April track list: Ore Freighter Green Eyes Maniac Wide Sky P.G.R. Manifold (The Traveller) The Unrestrained Boogie Juno Hope Autumn Leaves Alone Springtime 24th April The songs are finished and mastered, thx to Tammo of course! I have started working on the booklet, my friend Christian (a photographer) gave me some great photos today which are his and thus royalty free. One you can see at the top of the website. I will be using similar photos for the CD booklet. The good people at the cubase.net forums are listing quotes from various press houses. Kevin Brady from bugroom.com has put up the first $500 (!!) and donated this domain and webspace. Brilliant start, things are going well, regards, Richard |
